Meet the MYSF Instructors
We are excited to announce our new instructors for the 2018 Summer.
Zach Wallace, head instructor, began racing sailboats competitively in high school. After graduation he became a U.S. Sailing Certified Instructor. He has spent his summers teaching sailing ever since, while he has been pursuing a degree in biology at the University of Wisconsin. Zach loves sharing his passion for sailing, and being a part of the team here at the Madison Youth Sailing Foundation has been uniquely rewarding. He is excited to be returning this summer, and can't wait to meet everyone!
Molly O'Brien, instructor, is coming to us from our own backyard. Born and raised in Maple Bluff, Molly was part of the MYSF program as a young sailor. MYSF instilled a love of the water as she went on to sail and windsurf at a YMCA camp. Molly is very energetic and passionate to pass along her love for water sports to young children. She is active in many sports, has a nurturing personality, and already brainstorming activities to incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) into everyday sailing lessons. We are lucky and excited to have Molly onboard this summer!
Willy Hanson, instructor, starting sailing Optis in Madison when he was 8. He was one of the first MYSF sailing school students. As he developed his experience and skills, he started racing X boats and C boats at age 14. He would practice and race with his younger brother as crew. Willy was a junior instructor last year to learn the ropes and begin his instructor certifications. Although he will be gone often playing on a traveling Lacrosse team, he is excited to bring enthusiasm and experience to the classes he will teaching.
