Meet the 2018 MYSF Instructors
We are excited to announce our new instructors for the 2018 Summer.
Zach Wallace, Head Instructor, began racing sailboats competitively in high school. After graduation he became a U.S. Sailing Certified Instructor. He has spent his summers teaching sailing ever since, while he has been pursuing a degree in biology at the University of Wisconsin. Zach loves sharing his passion for sailing, and being a part of the team here at the Madison Youth Sailing Foundation has been uniquely rewarding. He is excited to be returning this summer, and can't wait to meet everyone!
Scott Sullivan, Head Racing Coach, began sailing Optis on lake Beulah in East Troy, Wisconsin at the age of five. Ever since he has been competitively sailing in the Inland, also sailing x-boats, c-scows, a-scows, and e-scows. After his x-boat career he became a U.S. Sailing Certified Instructor and has been teaching sailing since. Scott is going to be a senior at the University of Wisconsin pursuing a degree in marketing while also competing for the Wisconsin Sailing Team. He is excited to join MYSF and meet all of the families involved!
Molly O'Brien, Instructor, is coming to us from our own backyard. Born and raised in Maple Bluff, Molly was part of the MYSF program as a young sailor. MYSF instilled a love of the water as she went on to sail and windsurf at a YMCA camp. Molly is very energetic and passionate to pass along her love for water sports to young children. She is active in many sports, has a nurturing personality, and already brainstorming activities to incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) into everyday sailing lessons. We are lucky and excited to have Molly onboard this summer!
Will Segersten, Junior Instructor, starting sailing Optis in Madison when he was 6 and has been racing on and off ever since. Will will be instructor for our standard sessions, while also participating in the racing team and attending opti regattas as a competitor.
